North

The top of the province has places such as Calahorra, Guadix & the Marquesado area, which I have visited. I had a great 4×4 experience in the Marquesado area. There are also lots of prehistoric monoliths to see around this region.

UNESCO has incorporated the Geopark of Granada in 2021. This area has a unique geology and has incredible fossil remains of extinct large mammals. Roaming this region in the Quaternary Period. This was 2.5 million years ago, close to when humanity arrived on earth. Expect to see monoliths, epic canyons and cave houses in this part of Granada province.

I also have on to my to do list the towns of Castril, Orce and Galera. Known for outdoor activities, nature and cave accommodation.

    Hi,

Your information is priceless, thank-you! Do you think I can practice optometry in Granada? I currently practice in Toronto, Canada.

    Cheers

      Hi,

In Granada there is a large faculty of Medicine (& related subjects)
I don’t have any specific information about your line of work,
But if there was a chance you I believe would need a good level of Spanish
In Granada we are in proper Spain and the general level of English is low or non existent
Mainly young people have some grasp of the language but in the workplace you generally need a decent level to get on

      Hope this helps
      Molly

Miss Molly Pomegranate (as I have named you) has done it again with a very comprehensive blog about the Granada she loves… one major omission I have never seen any blogs etc about the Gitanos……..who have such a vibrant wonderful culture music dress dance …….Mano the native Andalusian who I connected you with on fb could have given you an introduction to some families as he worked closely with them during his time as a politician …pity you never made the most of that as the insight you would have gained would have been second to none.

  4. Elle says:

Definitely a post to bookmark. Thanks for taking the time to put it all together Molly. Hope to see you somewhere in Granada for a cheeky vino one day soon!
